REUNION CLASS OF 1959
Fifty years ago in June 1959 OLR graduated two classes of students. Bill Geraghty and Rich Tinger are in contact with several '59 grads, but need addresses for an extensive search. If you can help, e-mail Rich Tinger at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it

New OLR Website Launch
Welcome to the new OLR Website. We are still migrating contents from the old website and adding new items.

From The Pastor
Thanksgiving '08- 180 turkeys and bags of food were distributed to needy families. OLR parishioners donated the food; six dozen turkeys came from an anonymous donor, the remainder from the Fordham Bedford Housing Corp. More than 500 people had their Thanksgiving Dinner in the Parish Center sponsored by POTS (Part Of The Solution), the soup kitchen on Webster Ave. between 107th and 198th Streets. Volunteer families from Resurrection Parish in Rye worked in the kitchen and served the guests at their tables. Mayor Bloomberg showed up for a photo op along with the City Council Speaker, Christine Quinn and the Majority Leader Joel Rivera. Click here for the Daily News picture.

On Nov. 30th, OLR will begin distributing slips with suggestions for Christmas gifts that will go to the homeless women and their young children living at Concourse House (formerly the House of the Holy Comforter). All this keeps alive what has always made this parish a special place...committed parishioners trying their best to live the Gospel and help their neighbors.

On another note, we congratulate Chris (CJ) Sullivan (OLR graduate 1971) who has a new book published this year: "Wild Tales from the Police Blotter"(Lyons Press). It's a collection of all sorts of police/crime stories, arranged by topic. He has another book, "1001 Greatest Things Ever Said about New York", also published by Lyons Press.

Please remember Maggie McCullough OLR '37 in your prayers; she is at St. Patrick's Home by the Jerome Reservoir if you happen to be nearby.  Also, remember Oscar Cardenty Sr.; I visited him this week in the hospital. He was a super on the Concourse and his sons attended OLR, Oscar '80 and Ricky '85. His wife, Maria, worked in our lunchroom in the '80's.He passed away on November 29th.
